UK government rules out mandatory supermarket price caps amid talks with retailers on food prices.
"The government is going to be having conversations with supermarkets about what more we can do to support households, but no, we are not going to be implementing a mandatory price cap," Dan Tomlinson said. The discussions come as ministers seek to ease cost-of-living pressures driven in part by the Iran war.
