UK shop price inflation rose to 1.2% in May as food inflation fell to 2.7%, BRC says.
Prices in May were 1.2% higher than a year earlier, up from a 1.0% rise in April, according to the BRC-NIQ Shop Price Monitor. Annual food inflation slowed to 2.7% from 3.1%, but the BRC said retailers face rising energy costs and disruption linked to the conflict in Iran.
