More than 6,000 UK food manufacturers were in significant financial distress in the first quarter of 2026, BTG reports.

According to BTG’s Red Flag Alert tool, there were more than 6,000 food manufacturers in significant distress in Q1 2026, with around 800 in critical distress. Since the start of March 2026, the price of Brent crude has risen 43.8%, increasing energy costs for manufacturers.
