**Cottage Cheese Is Having a Main Character Moment**

19h ago · 3 sources · trend

Your grandma’s diet food just crossed $2bn.

Cottage cheese sales in the US topped $2bn in 2025, up 19.2% in dollars and 13.9% in volume, according to Circana. That is not price doing the heavy lifting. That is real demand.

Private label is riding the wave, too. Store brands pulled in $673m, up 10% year on year, with units up 7%. Meanwhile, brands like Daisy, Lactalis Heritage, Good Culture, Kemps and Darigold posted double-digit gains in the mid-20s to mid-30s. Everyone is eating.

Across the pond, UK brand All Things sold 1 million pots in four months and became the best-selling cottage cheese SKU on Ocado. They are making it with cream instead of whey for a thicker texture, and production partner Yester Farm Dairies in Scotland plans to double capacity by year end. Good Culture just secured fresh backing from L Catterton in a deal reportedly valuing it at more than $500m.

Zoom out and the picture holds. Globally, cottage cheese is forecast to grow at a 6% CAGR to 2031, with Asia-Pacific leading at 8% CAGR.

Why it matters: protein is still king, but texture and branding are the new battlegrounds. Cottage cheese is no longer the sad tub in the back of the dairy case. It is high-protein dairy with attitude. The contrarian take? Private label is strong, but the real upside may sit with brands that premiumize the curd and own the vibe, before retailers turn it into just another commodity.
