**When Weight Loss Drugs Meet Longevity Drinks**
23h ago · 4 sources · trend
Nestlé just launched its first-ever drinks line aligned with the healthy longevity trend. Not a small side bet. The elderly nutrition market is projected to hit $43.1bn by 2032, and beverages are seen as a leading category because they allow frequent consumption and functional fortification without sacrificing taste.
Zoom out and the demand drivers get clearer. Malnutrition among the elderly carries a global average prevalence of 18.6%, with rates reaching 35.7% in Africa and 18.3% in Asia. At the same time, eating patterns are shifting fast. Around 13.3% of US consumers are already using GLP-1 medications, with adoption projected to reach 21% by 2030. These drugs are reshaping how, when and how much people eat. Think smaller portions and more frequent meals, not a mass exit from food.
Retail is moving too. Holland & Barrett has partnered with Phlo to signpost customers to GLP-1 services like Wegovy and Mounjaro. Its data shows 55% of UK adults wish they could manage their weight better, 64% are actively managing it and 33% are trying to lose weight. Roughly 1 in 10 people develop at least one new nutritional deficiency after six months on a GLP-1 drug.
Why it matters. The future of CPG is not less food. It is smarter food. Protein-rich drinks, fibre, prebiotics, muscle and mobility support. If appetites shrink and deficiencies rise, the brands that win will be the ones that pack more nutrition into every sip.
