Protein Bars Meet Probiotics, Now in 2,800 Walmarts

2h ago · 3 sources · funding

Rogue is not tiptoeing into retail. The high-protein, probiotic-packed snack startup just raised $2.5 million in pre-seed funding and locked in a launch in 2,800 Walmart stores nationwide.

The round was led by Science Inc., with Uncommon VC and Simple Food Ventures also backing the bet. The pitch is straightforward. Bold flavor, clean ingredients and what it calls clinically relevant probiotics, all wrapped in a protein snack format built to challenge legacy nutrition brands. Rogue is also launching online in early May, pairing brick and mortar scale with a digital push out of the gate.

Why it matters: Walmart does not hand out 2,800-store rollouts like free samples. Landing that kind of distribution at the pre-seed stage signals retailer appetite for protein snacks that do more than flex macros. Gut health is now riding shotgun with protein, and buyers are clearly open to emerging brands that mash the two together.

For legacy bar brands, the message is clear. Protein alone is table stakes. The next shelf reset is about stacking functions and moving fast enough to earn national doors before the ink on your seed round dries.
