Rogue Wants to Put Probiotics in Your Chip Aisle
1h ago · 5 sources · funding
Rogue, the protein snack startup built by the team behind Dollar Shave Club and Liquid Death, just raised $2.5m in pre-seed funding and locked in a national Walmart launch. The brand will roll out to 2,800 stores across the US in July, which is not a soft launch. That is a cannonball into mass retail.
The pitch is simple. Up to 20g of protein. Active probiotics. No seed oils or artificial ingredients. Flavors like Spicy Chicken Sandwich Chips and Churro Puffs that sound more convenience store than clinical nutrition aisle.
Science Inc developed Rogue in-house and brought in backing from Uncommon and Simple Food Ventures to fund inventory, hiring and a broader wholesale push. The company is also building a digital engine with influencer-driven sales on TikTok Shop and Amazon, then plugging that demand straight into Walmart shelves.
Timing helps. The US protein snack market is projected to hit $1.8bn in 2025 and grow 8%-9% annually over the next decade. Big enough to matter. Crowded enough to hurt.
Here is the real play. Rogue is trying to prove you can build brand heat online first, then land in 2,800 stores with a built-in audience. If it works, the old shelf-first model starts to look very tired.
